Springtime in Indiana

I was beginning to think it would never get here. We may yet see a dying gasp of Old Man Winter, but it will be short lived. Open water on Otter Lake, birds singing, the mud is drying up, and my new house is progressing, slower than I would like, but I'll get there. The obstacles I face seem pretty insignificant compared to those some of my friends are facing. If the worst of your challenges can be measured in Dollars, you don't have any problems. Enjoy this wonderful time of new life, and new beginnings.

To Issue an Ultimatum ............ Or Not

The thesis goes like this; An ultimatum will always get results, unfortunately, they are not often the desired results. I suppose it's human nature to resist responding positively when someone else tries to exert their authority over you by telling you what to do, "or else!". When the recipient of such a command realizes that some response is necessary, that the directive can not just be conveniently ignored, that response usually begins with the thought, "I'll show them!" We humans can be quite creative in formulating a response that technically fulfills our obligation, but it is often not seen as desirable or acceptable to the person who issued the ultimatum. Regardless, an ultimatum, will, always get results.

That warm, fuzzy feeling.............

Any of a number of things can cause it. A special look from the one you love, a child does something touching, you help someone......... just because. It can be triggered by the stimulation of any of our senses. Wonderful, isn't it? Cause it. Feel it. Enjoy it. It's a superb gift to give, or receive.

The Primary, and Fundamental Thesis.........

................. of the Ostaf N. Reevers' Philosophy of Life. I submit to you this, "Everyone wants to be the ruler in his own kingdom". The operative word in this thesis is "own". The human mind has quite a proclivity for imposing a possessive and controlling effect on at least something which seems to be within the range of it's influence. That said, one is only left to determine the size and nature of that kingdom. For many, it may be quite small. It may be a place, nothing more than their workshop, or kitchen, or even a garden. It may take the form of an environment; work, school, a committee, a club or similar organization. It might even be reduced to a relationship, with as few as one or two other associates or friends. Unfortunately, it also may be large, quite large. Examples abound of those who would dare contemplate dominance of this entire planet and all its resources and inhabitants. Whatever the kingdom, regardless of it's size and nature, everything within that realm is fair game for the desires of it's "ruler".

I'm Ostaf

Hello. I'm Ostaf N. Reevers. My friends just call me Ostaf N. Reevers. Don't worry, at some point you'll understand the difference. You may even smile. I am involved in a lifelong endeavor to administer self therapy, but I guess all of us really are doing that, aren't we. This blog is evidence of that endeavor. If anything here enlightens, enriches, educates, amuses, irritates, or enrages( or any other of a huge number of stimulating verbs) you, well, i suppose that is a bonus, for you, or me, or both of us. Over the years, I have conveyed, one profundity at a time, my philosophy of life, to anyone unfortunate enough to be trapped in my presence while I'm ranting. As best I can recall, I will relate those bits of wisdom, or stupidity, or something in between, one posting at a time. To paraphrase Uncle Albert, "Only two things are infinite, the universe, and the stupidity of mankind. I'm not sure about the universe." It is to him, I dedicate this blog.
